Why the Series “The Secret Garden” Was Pulled Off the Air

Now TV recently announced its decision to discontinue the series The Secret Garden (Gizli Bahçe) after just six episodes, citing a significant drop in viewership ratings. The sixth and final episode is scheduled to air on Sunday, November 24.

The decision sparked outrage among the show’s fans, who deemed it unfair to a series praised for its gripping plot and well-developed characters.

Actor Murat Yildirim Addresses the Cancellation

Lead actor Murat Yildirim expressed his disappointment over the show’s premature ending, saying:

“This is my first project to be canceled so early. It was marketed poorly and wasn’t given the chance to find its audience.”

Fan Reactions to the Announcement

Fans of The Secret Garden were left shocked and upset by the news. Many voiced their frustrations online, with one viewer commenting:

“How could a series this thrilling and intense be stopped so soon? Every scene was more captivating than the last.”

Others called for the show to be picked up by a different network that would allow it to continue:

“The script is outstanding, and the actors are incredible, but the channel failed to support it properly.”

Low Ratings Lead to Cancellation

The series faced declining ratings, with the fifth episode recording the following viewership figures:

  • Total: 3.16
  • AB: 2.68
  • ABC1: 3.53

As a result, Now TV decided to cut its losses, scheduling the final episode for Sunday instead of its regular Tuesday slot.

Plot and Cast of The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden follows the story of Demir, who discovers his late brother left behind a young son. He becomes entangled in a bitter custody battle with the child’s mother, Nazli, while navigating personal and family crises.

The show features a stellar cast, including:

  • Murat Yildirim
  • Ebru Şahin
  • Ezgi Eyüpoğlu
  • Çağdaş Onur Öztürk

Written by Hazar Kozeş and Emre Özdor, and directed by Recai Karagöz, the series garnered significant attention, albeit briefly, for its compelling storyline and performances.

Though its run was short-lived, The Secret Garden left a strong impression on its audience, proving its potential to be a hit under different circumstances.
